Less than two weeks away from the start of Ultra Music Festival, part two of our official preview takes a look at all that the RESISTANCE brand has to offer in 2022! Taking over two stages this March, the lineup and stage hosts are stronger than ever and fans of house, tech house, progressive and techno are sure to delight! Read on for some of the can’t miss sets, and if you’re interested in learning more about the Mainstage don’t miss part one of our preview here!
When you think of RESISTANCE at Ultra Music Festival, you have to think of Carl Cox. The icon is such an integral part of the brand and this year’s Carl Cox megastructure lineup is loaded! Daily sets from Carl Cox in peak time are always a highlight of the festival, and with one of the biggest track arsenals of any DJ, the diversity and quality he can maintain across three sets at the festival is truly unmatched.
His stage plays host to many techno heavyweights this year and features four RESISTANCE debuts we have our eyes on. On Friday, Anfisa Letyago is on opening duties for the Megastructure and is an early set to not be missed. Later that same day, Nina Kraviz takes the stage before Carl Cox and is sure to lay down a thumping set. On Sunday, two more first time performers will bring the heat. Filth On Acid label head Reinier Zonneveld has grown into more of a household name for casual dance music fans with his frequent Oliver Heldens collabs and most recently just released an Armin van Buuren collaboration. Later on day 3, Belgian DJ/producer Amelie Lens takes over and is sure to showcase why she’s grown into a global techno icon over the last several years.
Other key artists to watch for at Carl Cox’s megastructure include Michael Bibi, always loaded with fresh tunes from his label Solid Grooves, Brazilian techno star ANNA, whose RESISTANCE resume includes performances at Ultra events in Miami, Croatia, and Brazil, as well as Adam Beyer, whose Drumcode imprint and music is synonymous with all that is exciting about techno!
Our must see set at the Carl Cox Megastructure goes to Tale Of Us on Saturday. The Italian duo and their imprint Afterlife have risen to new heights in the past two years, with their music, events (don’t miss their visuals!), artists and content taking over socials. Their emotionally evoking melodic techno sound is truly unique and pairs perfectly with their ability to build tension in their DJ sets. Their sets feature music from some of the hottest producers in dance music including Anyma and Innellea, and performing just before Carl Cox on Saturday night, we’re sure it’s going to be a career defining set from the duo!
RESISTANCE debuts a new stage at Ultra this year and The Cove offers an exciting and diverse blend of underground sounds! On Friday, get ready for the sounds of “High-Tech Minimal” with Boris Brejcha leading a stage takeover with his FCKING SERIOUS imprint. The German DJ, who was already an underground legend, has risen to more mainstream popularity in recent years following his iconic Cercle sets. His music is truly one of a kind and his DJ sets consist exclusively of his own music, making it a performance you truly need to experience live. Joining him will be label artists Deniz Bul and Moritz Hofbauer, as well as one his best friends, Ann Clue, who has been instrumental in his success while also building out her own career. The two are known for some magical b2b sets and maybe Ultra Miami will be the perfect place for an impromptu back to back.
Saturday showcases many of the underground’s crossover stars with mainstream appeal. Tech house superstar and everyone’s favorite social media personality John Summit is one of the hottest artists in dance music. He’s fresh off the release of his new Defected Records hit “Danza,” and his set on Saturday afternoon is a perfect way to get your day going. Australian DJ Dom Dolla takes over after and his signature basslines will be welcome on a festival soundsystem. Watch out for tunes that catapulted him to global stardom like “Pump The Brakes,” “Take It,” and “San Frandisco.” Closing out night two are two of the UK’s biggest dance music duos, CamelPhat and Solardo. Previously performing b2b at Ultra 2019, this year sees each with extended individual sets and you can expect a fresh mix of everything from progressive to techno, melodic house to tech house!
On Sunday, get ready to transport yourself to the White Isle, as RESISTANCE brings a lineup that you could hear and see in Ibiza. The only b3b set of the weekend is the way to get your Sunday grooves going with Technasia, Carlo Lio and Hector laying down an afternoon set to remember. Matador brings his signature techno sounds, with Spanish legend Ilario Alicante on after. Sama Abdulhadi takes over after, and it’s an exciting set for the techno queen of Palestine. Closing The Cove, it’s more techno as Berlin duo Pan-Pot bring in 15+ years of experience to shut the festival down properly!
